Harbhajan Singh speaks out on supbar umpiring decisions

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh came into the spotlight after he pointed out the bad umpiring decisions that were taken when Pakistan took on South Africa in game 26 of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

There were several moments from the clash that were branded as controversial, the dismissal of Rassie van der Dussen being one of them. The star batter had multiple displays of DRS being shown on the big screen before he was eventually deemed dismissed. The decisions from the umpires in the game caused a major uproar and clearly, Harbhajan Singh was not happy regarding the curious case of Dussen.

“Bad umpiring and bad rules cost Pakistan this game. The ICC should change this rule. If the ball is hitting the stump, that’s out. Whether the umpire gave it out or not doesn’t matter. Otherwise, what is the use of technology? @TheRealPCB vs #SouthAfrica #worldcup” Harbhajan Singh tweeted.

South Africa claim top spot following win against Pakistan

Speaking of South Africa, the side has been putting in brilliant performances at the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Having played six games in the tournament so far, the Proteas have faced off against the likes of Australia, Netherlands, England, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Notably, the only clash that they have lost was against the Netherlands, apart from that, the side has registered wins in every game. Currently, South Africa sits atop the points table, with 10 points in six matches.

A few more wins would guarantee their spot in the knockout stages in the competition and the Temba Bavuma-led side will look to put in similar performances in the latter stages of the World Cup as well. For their next assignment, South Africa will be going up against New Zealand on Wednesday, November 1. As for Pakistan, the side finds itself in sixth place in the standings with four points in six matches. With their knockout qualification in trouble, the Men in Green cannot afford to lose any more matches.
