3) Shahid Afridi (476)
Former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi occupies the third position in this elite list. The explosive right-handed batter hammered 476 maximums across formats which also included 1053 fours. Afridi made his international debut for Pakistan by appearing in a one-day international against Kenya in Nairobi (Aga) in the year 1996. He played 524 matches in which he racked up 11196 runs at an average of 23.92 and a strike rate of 114.14. In 508 innings, Afridi struck 11 centuries and 51 half-centuries with the highest score of 156. He last played in a T20 international for ICC World XI against West Indies at Lord’s in May 2018.
2) Chris Gayle (553)
Known as ‘Universe Boss’, West Indian Chris Gayle finds himself in the second spot in this chart. The left-handed Jamaican has deposited the ball 553 times into the stands in his international career so far to go with 2332 fours. His sixes record remained intact for years until Rohit Sharma broke it recently in the ongoing World Cup 2023. The 44-year-old southpaw Gayle made his maiden appearance by featuring in a one-day international against Asian giants India in Toronto in 1999. Gayle played 483 games across formats in which he managed to score 19593 runs at an average of 37.97 and a strike rate of 77.22. In 551 innings, Gayle smashed 42 hundreds and 105 half-centuries with the highest score of 333. His last appearance came against Australia in Abu Dhabi in the T20 World Cup 2021.

India skipper Rohit Sharma is now leading the six-hitting chart in international cricket. As mentioned above, he surpassed Gayle’s record against Afghanistan in the ongoing WC match in Delhi. The 36-year-old right-handed batter made his maiden appearance by playing an ODI game against Ireland in Belfast in 2007. Rohit has featured in 453 matches so far in which he has managed to amass 17773 runs at an average of 43.24 and a strike-rate of 84.44. In 473 innings, he has slammed 45 tons and 97 fifties with the best score of 264. Notably, he went past Gayle and has now hammered 556 maximums to go with 1686 fours.
