ENG vs BAN Review – England bounce back with a mammoth victory
Match 7 of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 featured a clash between England and Bangladesh at the HCPA Stadium in Dharamshala on Tuesday, October 10. England came into the clash on the back of a disappointing loss against New Zealand in the season opener, whereas Bangladesh won their last game against Afghanistan. After their first loss, England managed to register their first win of the tournament by 137 runs.
Coming in to bat, English openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan played brilliant innings to kick off the proceedings. Malan scored a brilliant 140 whereas Bairstow scored 52. Furthermore, Joe Root’s magnificent 82 helped England post a total of 364 runs in the first innings. Mahedi Hasan was the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh with four to his name while pacer Shoriful Islam took three.
Aiming to chase down the target, Bangladesh got off to a good start as Litton Das played a resilient knock of 72 runs, with Mushfiqur Rahim adding 51 runs on the board. However, England’s bowling attack was too much to handle for Bangladesh as Reece Topley terrorised the batters with four-for to bundle out Bangladesh for 227, winning the game by 137 runs.

Star English batter Dawid Malan was the best batter, scoring a big ton (140 off 107). Malan made sure that his side posted a big total on the board and put Bangladesh under pressure.
Best Bowler
Reece Topley (4/43, 10 overs)
Reece Topley was quite easily best bowler on the day, bowling a complete spell of 10 overs and bagging four very important wickets for just 43 runs to break Bangladesh’s back.

Going ahead, England will play Afghanistan in Delhi on October 15 whereas Bangladesh will play New Zealand in Chennai on October 13
