Rashid Khan to donate World Cup fees to earthquake victims in Afghanistan
In a recent social media post, Rashid Khan vowed to stand by the people of Afghanistan. A devastating earthquake on Sunday, October 8, has affected the Afghan citizens. As per reports, the catastrophic earthquake measured 6.3 on the Richter scale. The earthquake striked 40 kilometers west of Herat city in the western Herat province.
Over 2,000 fatalities have been reported while more than 1,000 people have been left injured. After learning about the grim state of affairs in his country, star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who is currently in India to take part in the ODI World Cup, put up a post on his ‘X’ and Instagram handles. Rashid stated that he would donate his entire match fees from the tournament to the victims of earthquake back home. Rashid also mentioned that he would be starting a fundraising campaign to help the people in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan look to bounce back in World Cup 2023 against India
India & Afghanistan will play on Wednesday, October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Afghanistan began their campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Co. lost by six wickets in a one-sided affair against the ‘Bangla Tigers’.
Afghanistan will aim to muster a strong comeback. But beating a formidable team like India will be a very arduous task. Rashid, who has been out of form, will be hopeful of turning things around for himself and his team.
