IND vs AUS: 2nd ODI Preview – India eye series win in Indore
India and Australia are all set to continue their ongoing ODI series as they gear up to face each other in the second ODI of the series on Sunday, September 24. Both sides will face each other at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. It is worth noting that team India currently have the upper hand in the series as they ran away with a brilliant five-wicket win in the first ODI.
Speaking of the first ODI, Australia came in to bat first after losing the toss. The side got off to a good start as opener David Warner played a good knock. Scoring 52 runs in 53 deliveries, Warner helped Australia come back from the early dismissal of Mitchell Marsh.
After Warner’s knock, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne capitalised as well. Smith scored 41 runs, whereas Labuschagne amassed 39 runs in 49 deliveries. Furthermore, Cameron Green and Josh Inglis played decent innings as well. Green scored 31 runs, with Inglis adding 45 runs to the board. In the first innings, Australia posted a total of 276 runs.
As for India, Mohammed Shami was the highest wicket taker for the hosts. Taking five wickets and conceding 51 runs in 10 overs. Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each as well. Aiming to chase the target down, India put forth a brilliant performance as openers Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 71 and 74 runs, respectively. Furthermore, skipper KL Rahul amassed 58 runs in 63 deliveries, with Suryakumar Yadav adding 50 runs to the board as well.
Team India managed to register a comfortable five-wicket win as the Australian bowlers failed to defend the target. Winning the first ODI would instill some much needed confidence in the Indian team. As for the Aussies, the side will look to put in an improved performance in the second ODI in Indore and look to level the series
