Tickets for IND-AUS ODI World Cup game sold out in under ten minutes
India and Australia are set to take on each other at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. With the demand for World Cup tickets skyrocketing, India’s World Cup opener against five-time champions Australia has been sold out in under ten minutes.
Meanwhile, some of the fans waiting in the queue could not get hold of the tickets and expressed their frustration on multiple social media platforms. There are multiple allegations against BCCI and BookMyShow, ODI World Cup’s official ticketing partner that not all the tickets were made public. Interestingly, BCCI and the stakeholders are yet to make public regarding the amount of tickets that were available, and hence, there remains some confusion.
On the other hand, the tickets between India versus Afghanistan, which will be held in Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and India versus Bangladesh, which will be hosted in Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune were sold out pretty soon on the same day.
India to begin World Cup campaign on October 8
India’s match against Australia will be their first in the 2023 edition of the competition. With no ICC trophy in the last ten years, the Rohit Sharma-led side is under tremendous pressure and will aim to start well. In Chennai, where the ball usually turns, the home team is expected to have some sort of advantage, but Australia in the World Cup can prove to be a massive threat.
Next up, the Men in Blue will travel to Delhi to play against Afghanistan. They can eventually prove to be a surprise package as the team has some quality spinners in the form of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi. Hence, it will not be an easy task for India. Following the match against Afghanistan, the team will travel to Ahmedabad, where they will challenge their arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14. The goal is to win the majority of the matches in order to qualify for the semis and then challenge for the title.
