MLC 2023: Top 3 run-getters
The inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 saw MI New York beat Seattle Orcas in the summit clash of the event by seven wickets to clinch the coveted title. The season saw numerous impressive batting performances which peaked during the final of the MLC 2023 as Nicholas Pooran and Quinton de Kock put up scintillating knocks to help their side clinch the title. On that note, we take a look at the top three run-getters of the MLC 2023:
3. Heinrich Klaasen | 235 runs
The South Africa batter donned the outfit of table toppers Seattle Orcas and played invaluable knocks during the competition. The batter collected 235 runs in seven appearances, including one fifty and century. Notably, Heinrich Klaasen hammered an unbeaten 110 runs which came against champions MI New York and his innings included nine fours and seven sixes. He maintained a solid average of 58.75.
2. Quinton de Kock | 264 runs
Quinton de Kock slammed 87 off 52 balls which included nine fours and four sixes in the summit clash. Despite ending up on the losing side, de Kock concluded his campaign as one of the leading run-getters in the top-tier league. The wicketkeeper-batter got 264 runs in seven matches at a healthy average of 44.00. His knocks also include three half-centuries throughout his first stint with the Seattle-based franchise.
1. Nicholas Pooran | 388 runs
It is no secret that Nicholas Pooran has been a proven performer in the T20 circuit and flourished as an explosive hitter in leagues around the world. In the recently concluded MLC 2023, Pooran’s magnificent, unbeaten 137 runs off mere 55 balls, featuring 13 sixes and 10 fours, helped his side clinch the title against Seattle. Pooran featured in eight matches and accumulated 388 runs, lacing it with two half-centuries and one ton, at a stellar average of 64.66.
