Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill take giant leaps in ICC ODI batting rankings
Star India batters Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill have made a rapid rise in the ICC ODI batting rankings after their stellar show in the recent three-match ODI series against West Indies. Gill finished as the second-highest run-scorer of the series with 126 runs in three innings at an average of 42.
On the other hand, Kishan was awarded Player of the Series for finishing as the highest run scorer. He scored 184 runs from three innings with three half centuries to his name. Courtesy of their stupendous performances, both batters have been rewarded with a rise in the latest ODI batter’s rankings.
Gill has jumped two places to take the fifth spot with 743 ratings. He is in touching distance of Pakistan batters Imam-ul-Haq (745 ratings, fourth spot) and Fakhar Zaman (755 ratings, third spot). Kishan has also earned a career-best rating as he jumped nine places to occupy the 36th position. On the other hand, Pakistan captain Babar Azam continues his reign at the top with 886 ratings to his name.
Among bowlers, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav have also taken giant strides after finishing as the highest and the second highest wicket taker of the ODI series respectively. Kuldeep jumped four places and stormed into the top ten after picking seven wickets from three matches while Thakur, who picked eight scalps, jumped three places to take the 30th spot. Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood keeps the top spot with 705 ratings.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya also jumped five places to take the 11th spot with 210 ratings in the all-rounder’s rankings after scoring 82 runs and picking one wicket in the series. Shakib-al-Hasan continues to rule at the top with 371 ratings.
