Manoj Tiwary announces retirement from all forms of cricket
Manoj Tiwary made his India debut in 2008 against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. He remained with the Indian side for a number of years, but injuries and lack of opportunities were two things that halted his progress. His standout innings came against the West Indies in Chennai in 2011. He scored a brilliant 104 after coming to the crease at the score of 1/2 in the first over. What made his innings more remarkable is the fact that he played with cramps. Interestingly, Tiwary was benched for the next 14 matches after his match-winning performance.
The Bengal batter led his state side to the finals of the Ranji Trophy last season. Bengal lost to Saurashtra in the final match, and many believed it was Manoj’s last hit. However, the right-handed batter didn’t retire immediately, but on Thursday, August 3, the 37-year-old announced on his social media handles that he is bidding farewell to the game of cricket.
