WI vs IND: T20I series – 5 Players to watch out for
India and West Indies will start the T20I leg of the tour on Thursday, August 3 in Trinidad. The series comprises five matches as both teams get ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA. Both teams have announced their squads for the series, and it will run for 12 days. Let’s explore the five players to watch out for in the WI vs IND T20I series.:
1. Shimron Hetmyer
The southpaw is one of the most destructive batters in the shortest format of international cricket as he is known for hitting the ball a long way. However, Hetmyer did not have a great outing in the ODI series where he scored 24 runs across three innings. Hence, the 26-year-old will be desperate to turn things around in the T20Is.
2. Kyle Mayers
Kyle Mayers had a good IPL 2023 where he amassed 379 runs with the bat from 13 matches at an average of 29.15 with four fifties to his name. However, since then Mayers has failed to replicate his magic in international cricket. The southpaw will be eager to make a turnaround in the T20I series and help his team win it.
3. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal shattered record books in the IPL 2023 as he registered the most number of runs by an uncapped batter scoring 625 runs in the season. Furthermore, Jaiswal got his international career off to a sensational start scoring a hundred in his debut Test. Being in the form of his life, Jaiswal will be eager to get his T20I career off to a good start as well in the upcoming series.
4. Arshdeep Singh
The left-arm seamer will be making a comeback in the team having last played a T20I in February 2023. Arshdeep finished as the third-highest wicket-taker in the last T20I series against West Indies where he scalped seven wickets from five matches. Arshdeep will be eager to make statements with his performances to make a strong case for his selection in the ODI World Cup squad.
5. Yuzvendra Chahal
The wrist-spinner etched his name in the history books as he recently became the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL with 187 scalps to his name. Despite that, Chahal is yet to make his first appearance in the T20 World Cup for India and hence will be desperate to continue his form in international cricket in the lead-up to the upcoming two World Cups (ODI and T20I)
