Reports: India versus Pakistan World Cup match rescheduled to October 14
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah previously confirmed that some of the matches in the upcoming ODI World Cup may get changed as some of the participating boards have asked for the same. As per the latest development, the mega clash will now be played on a new date.
The India versus Pakistan clash was previously reported to be played on October 15. As per a new report by RevSportz, it will now be played on October 14 in Ahmedabad. Along with that, Pakistan’s matches against Netherlands and Sri Lanka too have been moved to October 6 and 10 respectively. This ensures that Pakistan team gets enough time to prepare for the India match.
Meanwhile, BCCI and ICC are yet to confirm the details but an announcement is expected in a couple of days. On the other hand, WC tickets are likely to go on sale on August 10. Ahead of that, the governing body wants to sort out the schedule dilemma. As things stand, the Babar Azam-led side will be playing their opening game against the Netherlands on October 5. Moving ahead, Pakistan will play their next game on October 10 against Sri Lanka. Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will be hosting both matches.
Pakistan yet to confirm their participation in the World Cup
Over the last six months, PCB criticized BCCI for leading the charge in changing the venue of the Asia Cup. Since then, they have threatened India about not travelling to the subcontinent for the marquee tournament. Later on, they stated that a security team will be travelling to India for inspection but nothing has been confirmed so far.
There is a belief that the Bilawal Bhutto-headed committee will not create much of a fuss as the Asia Cup situation got resolved. However, it cannot be ruled out that a late drama may occur as Pakistan previously stated that the team is reluctant to travel to Ahmedabad for any of their matches, other than the final.
