Emerging Teams Asia Cup: 5 Indians to watch out for
The fifth edition of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup is all set to kick off on July 14, 2023, in Sri Lanka. The competition, which is a 50-over event, will feature ‘A’ teams of five full members of the Asian Cricket Council and the top three sides from the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup. The eight teams involve India A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A, Nepal, Oman, and United Arab Emirates. Team India will be led by youngster Yash Dhull and there are many other promising and talented players who are raring to showcase their skills in this tournament.
Let’s take a look at the 5 Indian cricketers to watch out for in ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023:
1.Yash Dhull
Yash Dhull will don the captaincy hat for India in the competition. Dhull represented Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition. The right-handed batter has played seven List A matches so far in his career. Dhull has managed to score 191 runs in six innings at an average of 38.20 and a strike rate of 90.09 with one half-century and the highest score of 71*. He will look to lead his side from the front by playing valuable knocks.
2.Sai Sudharsan
Sai Sudharsan has been in terrific form especially in the T20 format this year. He has struck 362 runs in eight innings while playing for Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2023. Sudharsan smashed three half-centuries and averaged 51.71 while striking at 141.40. Sudharsan has played 11 List A games with 664 runs at an average of 60.36 with three centuries and two fifties.
3.Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma is a familiar name in the IPL. Having represented DC in the past, Abhishek now plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The left-handed player, who struck two half-centuries for SRH in IPL 2023, has a decent record in List A cricket. Abhishek has played 38 matches and managed to rack up 1138 runs. In 37 innings, he has slammed three hundred and three half-centuries at an average of 33.47 and a strike rate of 93.97 with the best score of 169*. He also has 21 wickets to his name in 26 innings.
4. Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh enjoyed a solid campaign with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in this year’s IPL. The 22-year-old wicketkeeper batter smashed 358 runs in 14 innings at an average of 25.57 and a strike rate of 150.42. The right-handed batter also hit one century and one fifty with the best score of 103. He has played 24 List A games with 664 runs to his name. In 23 innings, he has struck one hundred and four half-centuries at an average of 31.61 and a strike rate of 90.34 with the best score of 167.
5.Rajvardhan Hangargekar
Right-arm fast-medium bowler Rajvardhan Hangargekar featured for the eventual champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2023 edition. The 20-year-old seamer played only two matches but managed to pick up three wickets at an average of 20 with the best bowling figures of 3/36. Hangargekar has appeared in 13 List A matches with 25 wickets to his name. He averages 23.92 and has a strike rate and economy rate of 25.8 and 5.54, respectively. Hangargekar has also picked one five-wicket haul in his brief List A career.
