Virat Kohli takes a trip down memory lane
As India prepare for their upcoming Test match against the West Indies in Dominica, the picturesque Caribbean islands are set to witness some mouthwatering action. The first Test, scheduled from July 12 to 16 at the Windsor Park, holds special significance as it marks the return of Test cricket to this venue since 2017 and only the fifth Test overall.
Interestingly, the last time India played a Test match in Dominica was in July 2011. The opponents were none other than the West Indies. Virat Kohli, the current Indian batting superstar, stands as the sole survivor from that Indian squad, making his presence in the upcoming Test all the more meaningful.
However, Kohli isn’t the only link between the two teams across these 12 years. India’s present head coach, Rahul Dravid, also featured in the 2011 squad, and their shared connection prompted Kohli to commemorate it through a heartfelt social media post.

Back in 2011, Dravid and Kohli were at contrasting stages in their respective careers. The match, which ultimately marked the final Test for Dravid and VVS Laxman in the West Indies. It also witnessed Kohli’s Test debut in the series opener.
Fast-forward to present, India are set to engage in a full-fledged West Indies tour, starting with a two-match Test series. The first Test in Dominica holds immense significance for both Kohli and Dravid. It serves as an opportunity for Kohli to regain his form after a disappointing performance in the WTC final. While for Dravid, it is a chance to further solidify his coaching credentials.
