Most consecutive Tests played for a team
Featuring in consecutive Test matches is quite a monumental feat to attain and Australia’s Nathan Lyon is all set to feature in his 100th Test game on the trot in the second Ashes Test at the Lord’s in London. He will also become the first specialist bowler to feature in 100 consecutive Tests against the English side. Likewise, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is the only Indian to have attained the extraordinary feat, when he featured in 106 back-to-back matches in Test cricket. 3. Mark Waugh | AUS | 103
The Australia great appeared in the red-ball games for the national side from June 3, 1993 to 19 October 2022, spanning nearly a decade. During this period, Mark featured in as many as 103 matches for Australia. and thus takes the third spot in this elite list. In total, he featured in 128 Tests and collected 8029 runs, lacing it with 47 fifties and 20 tons.
2. Allan Border | AUS | 153
The southpaw, during his stint with the national team, played a pivotal role in the batting order. With this, he made the cut in most of the matches in the longest format as he consecutively featured in 153 matches, the most by any Australian cricketer and the second-most overall in world cricket. Impressively, he only appeared in three other Tests, taking his tally to 156 matches overall, amassing 11174 runs which included 27 centuries and 63 half-centuries.
1. Alastair Cook | ENG | 159
The former England skipper was regarded as one of the top specialist cricketers in the Test format. Alastair Cook played in 161 Test matches before calling time on his career. Interestingly, from 2006 to 2018, the former cricketer featured in 159 matches on the trot. With this, he tops the charts in this elite list of cricketers. He has collected 12472 runs in 161 Tests which includes 33 tons and 57 fifties at an average of 45.35.
