3. Mahela Jayawardene

Former Sri Lanka batter Mahela Jayawardene sits in third place on the list of players with the most runs in home Test matches. It is safe to say that Jayawardene was a force to be reckoned with in home conditions. Playing in Sri Lanka, the legendary batter amassed 7167 runs to his name. It is also worth noting that Jayawardene played 149 Test matches throughout his career where he scored 11814 runs and hit 35 centuries and 50 half-centuries in the process.

2.  Sachin Tendulkar

Legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar sits in second place on the list of players with the most runs in home Test matches. Widely revered as one of the greatest batters of all time, Tendulkar was extremely dominant while playing in India. The Master Blaster scored 7216 runs in home conditions. Throughout his career, Tendulkar played exactly 200 Test matches where he scored 15921 runs, in his Test career, he scored 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries.

1. Ricky Ponting

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting sits in the first place in the list of players with the most runs in home Test matches. There is no doubt that Ponting was one of the greatest captains in cricket history, however, his repertoire with the bat did not go unnoticed as well. Playing in Australia, Ponting scored a whopping 7578 runs to his name. He played 168 Tests throughout his career where he amassed 13378 runs and hit 41 centuries, and 62 half centuries.
