Jason Roy fined 10% match fees for Code of Conduct breach
During the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Jason Roy, the Kolkata Knight Riders batter, was fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct, as per reports.
In accordance with IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.2, Roy admitted to the Level 1 violation. The Match Referee’s decision for Level 1 Code of Conduct offences is deemed final and binding. The Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct indicates to a players’ action or behavior that is not in accordance to the spirit of the game.
Speaking of the game, Roy played a magnificent knock of a 29-ball 56 in the game. The power-hitter Roy left the RCB bowlers amazed by his abilities as he breathed fire and wreaked havoc. He was one of the major reasons behind KKR’s victory. The side bounced back to winning ways after four consecutive losses.
Roy shared an 83-run opening stand alongside N Jagadeesan. He scored a major chunk of runs in the partnership, thereby providing his side with a dream start. Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed the duo in the 10th over. Skipper Nitish and Venkatesh Iyer stitched a 80-run partnership. Rana fell two runs short of a half-century, but his quick-fire 21-ball 48 kept KKR on track for a big total.
Heroics from Rinku Singh and David Wiese saw KKR post 200 runs in their stipulated 20-overs quota. RCB batters started off well, but no one except Virat Kohli could manage to put up a worthy knock. The in-form Faf du Plessis failed to convert his start into a big knock. RCB’s middlpe-order woes continues as the batters failed to chase the 201-run target, thereby losing the game by 21 runs.
