IPL 2023 Opening Ceremony: All You Need To Know

The excitement for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is at its highest as the T20 extravaganza is all set to take over the cricketing fraternity. The cricket board expects the upcoming season to bring back the old IPL vibe as it will be held in the traditional ‘home and away’ format, which has not been used since 2019.

To add to the exhilaration of fans, the tournament will mark its beginning with an opening ceremony ahead of the curtain raiser game between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings on March 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. While the game is set to begin at 7:30 PM, the opening ceremony will commence at 6:00 PM IST.

Everyone knows about the razzmatazz of an IPL opening ceremony, and this year, several stars will perform at the event to enthral fans from all over the world. The authorities confirmed the stars of the openign ceremony on their official Twitter handle as actors Rashmika Mandhana and Tamannaah Bhatia will be performing at the grand event while singer Arijit Singh will also mark his presence to serenade the fans.

Apart from the performances from movie industry celebrities, the ceremony will also feature some cultural acts.

It will be the first IPL opening ceremony being held since 2018. The BCCI cancelled the ceremony in 2019 to pay homage to the soldiers killed in the Pulwama attack in February 2019 while the pandemic restrictions from 2020 -2022 didn’t allow such a mass gathering.
