Shakib holds the record for the most international wickets in a single ground. He has taken 245 wickets from 141 matches at Mirpur’s Shere Bangla National Stadium with 11 five-wicket hauls. He comfortably leads this chart ahead of former Sri Lankan great Muthiah Muralitharan, who took 188 wickets from just 46 matches at Colombo’s Sinhalese Sports Club Ground.
Most international runs on a single ground
Notably, Shakib also holds the record for the most international runs on a single ground. He has scored 4677 international runs from 141 matches at Shere Bangla National Stadium, just 15 runs more than Mushifiqur Rahman and 244 runs more than Tamim Iqbal at the same venue.

Shakib, with 131 wickets from 112 T20I matches, is only two wickets behind New Zealand pacer Tim Southee. Both cricketers are also competing for the record of most balls bowled in T20Is, with the Bangladeshi all-rounder having delivered 2451 balls from 112 T20Is, 116 more than the Kiwi veteran.
Longest T20I career
Both Shakib and Mushifiqur Rahman were part of Bangladesh’s first-ever T20I against Zimbabwe in November 2006. However, the wicketkeeper batter last played T20I in September 2022 while Shakib remains a crucial part of Bangladesh’s most recent series. He holds the record for the longest T20I career by 16 years and 106 days, 59 days more than Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams who last played T20I in January 2023.
