The inaugural edition of the ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 is done and dusted and its Team India, who emerged victorious after defeating England by seven wickets in the summit clash. Shafali Verma and her side dismissed the English side for just 68 before chasing the target in 14 overs and claiming the glory. 5. Hannah Baker

Runners-up England’s leg-break bowler Hannah Baker ended the campaign with the most wickets for her side. She picked up ten wickets in six innings at an average of 7.30 and a strike rate of 13.1 with an economy rate of just 3.34. Her best spell of 3/10 came in the semi-final against Australia, which helped England spark a terrific comeback. Defending 100, the Aussies got bowled for 96 as they fell short by just three runs with Baker winning the POTM award.

4. Parshavi Chopra

India’s leg break bowler Parshavi Chopra finished as the second-highest wicket-taker, behind Australia’s Maggie Clark. She snared 11 scalps in six innings at an average of 7.00 and a strike rate of 11.4 with an economy rate of 3.66. Her best bowling performance of 4/5. She bagged the POTM award for her figures of 3/20 (4) in the semi-final against New Zealand. She also delivered a match and title-winning spell of 3/12 (4) against England in the finals.

3. Dewmi Vihanga

Sri Lanka all-rounder Dewmi Vihanga showed her skills and talent with crucial runs and wickets. The right-arm off break bowler picked up the most wickets (nine) for her country in five innings at an average of 12.88 and a strike rate of 13.3, with the best figures of 3/11 against the USA. Vihanga struck the second most runs (113) for her team with a solitary half-century.

2. Grace Scrivens

England captain Grace Scrivens showed her multi-skills in this WC. She finished the event behind Sherawat with the second-most runs to her name. She slammed 293 runs in seven innings at an average of 41.85 and a strike rate of 129.07. Scrivens hit three fifties as she also registered the highest score of 93 in the WC. She grabbed the second-most wickets (nine) for England and was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament despite ending up on the losing side in the final.

1. Shweta Sehrawat

India’s Shweta Sehrawat ended the tournament as the highest run-scorer. The right-handed batter smashed 297 runs in seven innings at a staggering average of 99.00 and a strike rate of 139.43. She struck three half-centuries with the highest score of 92* in the title-winning campaign. Her unbeaten 92 in the opening game against South Africa set the perfect tone for the rest of the World Cup.
