Cameron Green not concerned with his IPL 2023 price tag
Just before the Boxing Day Test against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Cameron Green expressed his disappointment as the all-rounder didn’t get enough opportunities to prove himself in the ongoing Australian summer. However, in the second Test when he was trusted with the ball, Green snared an excellent five-wicket haul to demolish Proteas’ batting order in the first innings.
Interestingly, his sensational performance came right after Mumbai Indians spent INR 17.50 crore to sign the 23-year-old for the upcoming Indian Premier League. However, despite earning a whooping sum, Cameron Green mentioned that it will not change him as a person and neither will affect his confidence.
“You can have a really slow start to the summer and you think cricket’s so tough and then you kind of have a few days like this and kind of brings you back. At the same time when you go through your highs cricket can bring you down pretty quickly. I haven‘t really put too much thought into (the auction). Obviously, the main focus of the team is on Test cricket. You always look forward to it, throughout the whole summer, Test cricket. It doesn’t change who I am, and all the confidence I have in my cricket so yeah, hopefully I didn’t change too much,” said Green after day one at MCG.
I‘m also very grateful that I’m bowling behind the four best bowlers in the world: Green
After picking up a five-for in the first innings, Green analyzed his game and mentioned having a chat with skipper Pat Cummins, who helped him steer Green into a good headspace ahead of the Test match. The cricketer also mentioned the advantages he has of being the fifth bowler in the squad.
“If you‘re bowling too straight and having them pad it back to you don’t really know how you’re going and how you’re feeling. I‘m also very grateful that I’m bowling behind the four best bowlers in the world. So, yeah, that’s a good thing. I think it‘s just finding that rhythm. I think it’s been a pretty slow start to the summer and I just wanted to bowl a few (overs) so I was basically in the game”.
“I got a few today. So that‘s a very special feeling. And I’m sure I will remember that for a very long time,” Green added.
