England and Australian players to be available for entire IPL 2023
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared an important update with all the ten franchises regarding the availability of foreign players from certain countries. There were doubts as to whether players from Australia and England will be available for the entirety of the upcoming IPL season (2023) or not.
But BCCI has confirmed that the Aussies and the English players will remain available for participation despite the Ashes series starting in mid-June next year.
The piece of news is going to bring immense relief for franchises as many must have planned to go after players from both countries and rope them in to strengthen their squad. The Ashes is the oldest cricket rivalry that exists in Test cricket and hence has a lot of significance.
Players in the past have prioritised playing in the Ashes instead of the Indian Premier League but since BCCI has given an official confirmation now franchises are bound to go hammer and tongs after the English and Aussie players of their choice.
Talking about the availability of the Australian players the mail from the BCCI says, “Full Availability. Players selected for ODI series against Afghanistan will be available from 30 March. Players playing final of Sheffield Shield to be available from 28 March,” as reported by a cricket news website.
The same mail while talking in regards to the English players says, “Full availability”. On the other hand, the Bangladesh players will be available for a limited window because of their series against Ireland.
“Players selected for Ireland series will be available from 8 April to 1 May,” the mail says as reported by a cricket news website. As per the BCCI the Sri Lankan players will be available from April 8.
Meanwhile, all the franchises will be in action during the mini-auction on Friday, December 23 in Kochi and would look to rope in the players that they have on their radar and gear up well for the upcoming edition in the year 2023.
