Virender Sehwag furious after Brisbane Test ends inside two days

Former batter Virender Sehwag expressed his disappointment after the Brisbane Test between Australia and South Africa finished inside two days. He reckoned that had a Test ended inside two days on a rank turner in India, the same class of people who are hailing the Brisbane Test for its “beauty” would have labelled it as “end of Test cricket”.

“142 overs and not even lasting 2 days. But, they have the audacity to lecture on what kind of pitches are needed. Had it happened in India, it would have been labelled end of test cricket, ruining test cricket and what not. The Hypocrisy is mind-boggling,” Sehwag tweeted.

He took to his Instagram as well, posting a screenshot of the scorecard of Brisbane Test alongside Ahmedabad Test. “Twaada kutta kutta, saada kutta Tommy. Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai,” Sehwag captioned the post.

Back then, many notable voices including the likes of Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen had criticized India for the quality of pitches and claimed that the tracks prepared were too favourable for the spinners. The critics had also mentioned that it was not a good advertisement for Test cricket.

Coming back to the Australia-South Africa contest, both teams kept each other at bay on a difficult Gabba wicket as the star-studded fast bowling lineups made the life of batters difficult. South Africa looked totally clueless in the contest as they registered scores of 152 and 99 in the two innings respectively. In the end, Australia needed only 34 runs to win, but they lost four wickets while chasing the small target.
