Half-century in ODIs is a proud achievement on any day and to reach the feat in quick times demands a lot. A lot of times, the middle-order batters end up with the fastest half centuries in ODIs as they do not have much time for sighters and need to go after the bowling straightaway. Counter attack in any format is a handy option to have and here are the top three Indian batters with the fastest ODI half-century

Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag was known for his attacking play and he never shied away from hit a boundary off the very first ball of the innings. The right-hander brought up his half-century in just 22 balls after coming in at three against Kenya in the Standard Bank Triangular Tournament and he remained unbeaten on 55 off 23 balls with seven fours and three sixes in the innings. Ganguly and Tendulkar, both scored centuries as India beat Kenya by a huge margin of 186 runs.

Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev, one of India’s greatest all-rounders, played a scintillating knock while coming in at number four in the West Indies tour in 1983. The right-hander hit seven fours and three sixes in his entertaining knock of unbeaten 72 off 38 balls and reached the half-century in just 22 balls. He further picked up two wickets with the ball as India registered a 27-run victory.

Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar, more often known for his bowling skills, played a sensational innings in Rajkot against Zimbabwe and he holds the record for the fastest half century in ODIs by an Indian batter. The right-hander achieved the feat in just 21 balls and finished with an unbeaten 67 off 25 balls with seven fours and four sixes in the innings. India went on to win the game by 39 runs in the end with Agarkar picking up 3 for 26 with the ball.
