3.Stephen Fleming (65)
Former New Zealand player Stephen Fleming has played the third-most consecutive matches as a captain in Test cricket. Fleming appeared in 65 consecutive Test matches as a skipper from July 1999 to December 2006. His streak began against England in Birmingham and ended against Sri Lanka in Wellington. Fleming, who made his Test debut against India in 1994, captained the Kiwis in 80 matches, having won 28, lost 27, and drawn 25. Overall, he has featured in third-most games as a captain after Graeme Smith (109) and Allan Border (93).
2.Ricky Ponting (73)
One of the finest captains the world cricket has ever produced, Australia’s Ricky Ponting occupies the second position on this chart. He has played the second-most successive Test matches as a captain in his career. Ponting appeared in 73 games from November 2004 to December 2010. His streak started against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and ended against England in Melbourne. Ponting led his side in 77 Tests, having won 48, lost 16, and drawn 13. Overall, he has played the fourth-most matches as a skipper after Smith, Border, and Fleming.
1.Allan Border (93)
Former legendary Australian player Allan Border tops the list for playing consecutive matches in the longest format of the game as a captain. Border featured in 93 consecutive games as a leader as his streak began against West Indies in Adelaide in December 1984 and ended ten years later against South Africa in Durban in March 1994. Notably, Border didn’t miss a single game as a skipper of the side in his entire career. The Aussies won 32 and lost 22 while they drew 32 and tied one under the stewardship of Border. He captained the most matches (93) after Smith’s tally of 109.
