David Miller is in the form of his life: Kobus Olivier
South Africa put brakes on India’s juggernaut at the Perth Stadium in Perth on Sunday, October 30 as Lungi Ngidi and David Miller helped their side to climb to the top of the table in Group 2 with five points to their credit. Both India and South Africa were coming into the contest on the back of a few clinical displays and hence the game was expected to be a cracker of a contest.
While India had edged past arch-rivals Pakistan in their first game of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 and comprehensively defeated the Netherlands in their second fixture, South Africa, on the other hand, were coming into this all-important clash after sharing points with Zimbabwe in a rain-marred affair and outclassing Bangladesh in their last fixture.
The Proteas were on song with the ball from the outset as they had reduced India to 49 for the loss of five wickets at one stage. Lungi Ngidi led the charge for the South Africans with his brilliant four-fer and was backed up well by Wayne Parnell, who bagged a three-wicket haul himself to restrict India to 130/9 in their 20 overs.

While chasing 131 for victory, South Africa were jolted early as they were reeling at 24 for the loss of three wickets at one stage. But a determined Miller put his hand up and played a match-winning knock (59* runs off 49 balls) to help the Proteas seal the game with five wickets and two balls to spare.
“David Miller is in the form of his life. He just can’t do anything wrong at the moment. Even his mishits seem to go to the boundaries at the moment. David Miller has got that confidence. Most of the time he has got the license to just play his shots and go for it. Today he was under immense pressure and he had to adjust his game and he took a while to get going. He played himself in and didn’t go blazing from the word go and played a different kind of innings today. He had to because South Africa had lost early wickets today,” said Olivier on a Cricket Chat show
