T20 World Cup 2022: 5 finishers to watch out for

T20 has been the most exciting and entertaining format and credit goes to big hitters. Australia are set to host the 2022 T20 World Cup from October 16 have included one of the best finishers in the world in form of Tim David in their squad. India also competes with in-form finishers Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik in their arsenal. So, let’s take a look at the top five finishers to watch out for.

The Singapore-born batter made his international debut for Australia last month in the first T20I match against India. He has played every T20I match for Australia since then and has cemented his place in their preferred XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. He smashed 54 runs off 27 balls against India in the third T20I and showed his finishing skills in the latest T20I series against West Indies and England as well.

The veteran Indian wicketkeeper batter returned to the national team setup after a big four-year gap after smashing 330 runs in 16 Indian Premier League matches at an impressive strike rate of 183.33 this season. He has been India’s first-choice wicketkeeper and a key finisher for the last few months. He smashed 46 runs off just 21 balls in India’s last T20I match against South Africa to warn opponents’ bowlers ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The experienced South African middle-order batter 481 runs at a strike rate of 142.72 in the Indian Premier League 2022 but strolled for consistency in international cricket after that. But he returned to form in the latest bilateral white-ball series against India by smashing 125 runs at a strike rate of 235.84 in three T20Is with the help of one big century. With Dwaine Pretorius out of the upcoming T20 World Cup, Miller and Tristan Stubbs will be South Africa’s key finishers in the tournament.

  1. Glenn Phillips

The 25-year-old Kiwi batter scored only 105 runs at a strike rate of 111.70 during the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup but has been enjoying great form lately. He has scored 1094 runs in 49 T20Is at a strike rate of 145.47 and was involved in all five matches in the recent T20I Tri-Series. He smashed 60 runs off just 24 balls against Bangladesh and scored overall 130 runs at an impressive strike rate of 180.55.

  1. Dasun Shanaka

The in-from Sri Lankan captain is leading by example with some memorable knocks while finishing the games. Shanaka smashed unbeaten 33 runs off 18 balls against India in the crucial Super-12 match at the 2022 Asia Cup tournament. He scored 111 runs at a strike rate of 138.75 in the 2022 Asia Cup and can surprise other big hitters in the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup.
