Highest partnership in men’s T20I chases
Team Pakistan completed a resounding victory over England in the second T20I encounter played at the National Stadium in Karachi. Chasing a target of 200 runs, skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan got involved in a record-breaking partnership and led their side to victory. On that note, let us take a look at the highest partnership while chasing in men’s T20Is.
3. 171* – Martin Guptill & Kane Williamson v PAK
Senior batters Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson were involved in an excellent partnership of an unbeaten 171 runs as their team registered an easy victory by 10 wickets against Pakistan. Chasing a total of 168 runs against Pakistan, the home team’s opening batters thrashed the Pakistani side and completed an easy victory to level the series in Hamilton.
2. 197 – Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan v SA
Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan completely bamboozled the South Africa bowling line-up during a T20I game played in Centurion last year. While stroked an excellent 122, his partner Rizwan also chipped in with 73 as the visiting team easily chased down the 200+ total kept by the home team. The duo’s impressive batting during the chase meant that the Men in Green take a 2-1 lead in the four-match Twenty20 series.
203* – Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan v ENG
The prominent duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan comes once again on the list as they recently completed a top-quality chase against England. Chasing exactly 200, both batters made it look like a walk in the park as none of the English batters had answers to their stroke-making. While Babar completed a century, Rizwan also played brilliantly for his 88 runs as he smacked five fours and four maximums.
