Captains with most Test wins

Test cricket is one of the world’s most complex sporting events as they a considerable duration of five days and a variety of regulations and specialties that boost its worth. Test matches involve several mental fights as well and the team leader often spends the majority of the brainstorming time.

As is frequently remarked, a weak troop with a strong leader will easily defeat a strong army with a poor leader. On that note, let us have a look at the captains who have led their teams to the most wins in Test cricket:

3. Steve Waugh- 41 wins

At the end of 2000, Steve Waugh assumed leadership of Australia’s Test team. Waugh captained the squad in 57 Tests during the course of his five-year captaincy and Australia won 41 of these encounters, a win percentage of about 72 percent.

2. Ricky Ponting- 48 wins

Australia dominated the majority of the 1990s and 2000s, and this list also reflects that. Similar to Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting guided the Australian squad to a string of victories. Australia won 48 of its 77 Test matches under Ponting’s leadership while only losing 16 of them. After giving up his captaincy responsibilities in 2010, the Ponting era came to an end when he announced his retirement from cricket in 2012.

1. Graeme Smith- 53 wins

Graeme Smith is unquestionably one of cricket’s all-time best Test captains. In Test cricket, only Smith has captained a team more than one hundred times. When you consider that not many cricketers even play 100 matches, let alone lead them, that accomplishment looks all the more impressive. Smith has a better statistical record than any other skipper in Test history. Under Smith’s leadership, the Proteas won 53 of the 109 Tests they played.
