Most wickets in Asia Cup
The 2022 T20 Asia Cup is slated to start on August 27 (Saturday) with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan taking on each other in the tournament opener. To note, this will be the second edition when the Asia Cup will be played in a 20-over format. In this article, we will talk about three bowlers who have picked up the most wickets in the tournament. Let us begin:
3. Sachin Tendulkar (17 wickets)
Much to the surprise of everyone, India’s veteran Sachin Tendulkar comes third in the list after scalping a total of 17 wickets in the Asia Cup. Apart from his batting antics, Tendulkar was a handy leg-spinner too and he had a few variations in his arsenal as well. Throughout his international career, Tendulkar finished with a total of 201 wickets across all three formats of the game.
2. Ravichandran Ashwin (18 wickets)
Senior Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin comes second in the list after grabbing a total of 18 wickets in the Asia Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had recently announced the India squad for the upcoming tournament and Ashwin has also been named to the team. The off-spinner will want to give a match-winning performance with the ball if he gets a chance in the playing XI.
1. Irfan Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja (22 wickets)
Former team India left-arm spinner Irfan Pathan and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are the joint leaders of this elite list after scalping a total of 22 wickets each. Just like Ashwin, Jadeja has also been named in the Indian squad for the 2022 T20 Asia Cup and he will want to scalp some wickets for the Men in Blue to get ahead of Pathan who also scalped 22 wickets during his playing days.
