County Championship 2022: Warwickshire sign Mohammed Siraj for three matches
Warwickshire County Cricket Club signed Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj for the last three matches of the ongoing County Championship season. Siraj, after signing the deal, said that he is excited to experience County cricket and also extended his thanks to both the cricket club and the BCCI for the opportunity.
Siraj said that he has always enjoyed playing in England, adding that he cannot wait to join the Warwickshire squad. Warwickshire’s Director of Cricket Paul Farbraace called Siraj a “fantastic” addition and said that they cannot wait to welcome him to the club. He also called the India international one of the best fast bowlers in the world at the moment.
Siraj has an impressive record in England in Test matches, picking up 18 wickets in five matches with the best innings figures of four wickets for 32 runs. Siraj has appeared in 13 Test matches overall, picking up 40 wickets with the best innings figures of five wickets for 73 runs. He can swing the ball either way and also naturally seams the ball off the surface. He also bowls with good pace and carry, constantly troubling the batters with the subtle movement and varying lengths.
Siraj’s knowledge and experience will help bring an added dimension: Farbrace
“Siraj is a fantastic addition to the squad and we can’t wait to welcome him to Warwickshire,” said Farbrace. “He is one of the best fast bowlers in the world right now and his knowledge and experience will help bring an added dimension to our line-up. It’s been clear that we needed to strengthen our bowling attack for the crucial run-in period and I’m excited to see what Siraj can do in these three games,” added the Director of Cricket.
