Most runs in men’s T20Is

The T20I format has changed from demands for a lot of impact players rather than accumulators and the role of the anchor has changed in recent times. Despite that, the top order players keep contributing the most runs for the side and hence, they have a big role to play. The best batters are pushed to open the innings in the shorter formats while the versatile batters have got different roles to play. Here are the top three batters with the most runs in men’s T20Is.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is third on the list of top run scorers in T20Is despite his dismal form in recent times. The right-hander has so far scored 3308 runs in 99 games at an average of 50.12 and a strike rate of 137 but is yet to score a century in the format. He has 30 fifties to his name, and he has dominated the format since his debut in 2010. It is expected to be only a matter of time, till he moves to the top of the list again.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is second on the list of top run scorers in T20Is and he is likely to grab the number one position after the five-match T20I series against West Indies. The right-hander has scored 3379 runs in 120 innings at an average of 32.18 and a strike rate of 139. Rohit has four centuries in the format already and is rated among the top batters in the current era. The 35-year-old made his T20I debut in 2007 and he still has a lot more cricket left in him.

Martin Guptill

New Zealand’s Martin Guptill has moved to the top of the list for most runs in men’s T20 internationals after his 40-run knock against Scotland. With 3399 runs in 116 games at an average of 32.37 and a strike rate of 136, Guptill has been a consistent run scorer for the Kiwis while opening the innings. He made his debut way back in 2009, and the 35-year-old is still one of the fittest cricketers going around.
