Rohit Sharma slams critics for questioning Virat Kohli’s place

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has hit back at critics and experts for raising fingers at former India captain Virat Kohli due to his poor form with the bat. To note, the 33-year-old had stroked 11 runs during the third T20I match between England and India held on Sunday.

Kohli started very well as he opened his account by taking a single, and then he took the attack to the English pacer David Willey and smashed him for a four and a six. However, his innings ended right after that as he got caught at the short cover region. The Men in Blue lost the third T20I by 17 runs but won the series 2-1 having won the earlier two matches.

We do not listen to outside noise: Rohit Sharma’s response to critics

Coming back to Virat Kohli’s criticism, Rohit Sharma cleared that the team doesn’t listen to whatever is being spoken outside and also slammed the ‘so-called’ experts. “It’s not difficult at all for us (Kohli’s place in the XI) because we don’t listen to outside noise. Also, I don’t know who these experts are and why they’re called experts. I don’t get that.

“They are seeing from outside, they don’t know what’s happening inside the team. We have a thought process, we make the team, we debate and discuss it, and think a lot about it. The players [we pick] are backed, they are given opportunities. People on the outside don’t know about it. So it’s more important about what’s happening within our team, that’s important for me,” he said while speaking at the post-match press conference.

To note, Kohli has not been at his best as the right-handed batter scored just a run during the second T20I against England. Before that, he did not have much of a good time during the rescheduled Test match against the Three Lions as well. Team India will now be taking on England in a three-match ODI series starting from July 12 in London. Kohli will be looking to have a good outing during the 50-over series and try to end his long-running century drought in the international arena.
