Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and AR Rahman to perform in closing ceremony at the IPL Final
The IPL 2022 final is set to be held on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. The Titans beat the Royals in the Qualifier 1 to book their place in the final while Rajasthan Royals redeemed themselves with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore last night (May 27). The BCCI confirmed that the final will stage a closing ceremony which was earlier in doubt with the Covid-19 issues.
It has to be noted that this will be the first closing ceremony in India since the IPL 2019 edition when Mumbai Indians won the title. For the next two years, the tournament had to be shifted to UAE for pandemic reasons. The fans witnessed the cash-rich tournament at the stadiums in the country again for the first time in three years and now they will have the opportunity to make it to the closing ceremony as well.
The closing ceremony has always featured the biggest celebrities in the Indian circuit turning up ahead of the finale and this time it will be Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and Oscar-winning musician, AR Rahman who are set to perform in the closing ceremony. There have also been reports of Jharkhand’s famous Chhau Dance set to light up the stage with a ten-member team.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly to attend the event
Meanwhile, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will be present at the closing ceremony along with the board members and a celebration is likely to take place for India’s 75th year of Independence and show the journey of Indian cricket. The BCCI had also stated earlier that a ‘Request for Proposal’ document would be available for Rs 1 lakh for staging the closing ceremony.
“The BCCI invites bids from reputed entities for staging the Closing Ceremony of IPL 2022, through a tender process,” the Indian board was quoted as saying earlier by India Today.
This is the first season for Hardik Pandya-led side Gujarat Titans and it will be a huge achievement if they can land the trophy in their first attempt. On the other hand, Sanju Samson-led side Rajasthan Royals will be featuring in the IPL 2022 final for the first time since winning the inaugural edition in 2008.
