To be compared to Mike Hussey is pretty special: CSK’s Devon Conway
Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway was delighted for being compared to one of the franchise’s greats, Michael Hussey, after his stupendous performance against the Delhi Capitals. The left-hander played just one game in the first half of the tournament and had to leave the camp for his wedding. However, the New Zealander has played some scintillating knocks after his return and he continued his brilliant form against the Delhi Capitals as well.
Conway played a match-winning innings of 87 off just 49 deliveries and helped his side to score a big total. He was awarded the player of the match after CSK won the game by 91 runs. The 30-year-old is certainly making a statement in the cash-rich tournament as he has already notched up 231 runs in four games this season and his technique has been sublime which raised a lot of comparisons with Hussey.
I was ready for any opportunity that comes my way: Devon Conway
Conway said that the comparisons with Hussey are very special for him. He also heaped praises on the former CSK batter for sharing his knowledge and experience in the dugout. Conway explained the importance of taking insights from batting consultant Hussey regularly and said that he is happy to learn from a legend of the game. Meanwhile, CSK have a very slim chance of making it to the playoffs still however, the equation does not remain in their hand yet.
“I have heard that a few times now, which is quite good. To be compared to one of the greats, Mike Hussey, is pretty special. It feels good to be possibly in that bracket. He has got so much knowledge, so much experience, not only in the IPL but throughout the world. It’s very important for me as a player to continue talking to him and learning from him and keep working hard,” Conway said in the post-match press conference.
