Mohammad Kaif lauds Cheteshwar Pujara for sensational County form

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has lavished praises on Cheteshwar Pujara for his sensational form in the ongoing County Championship. The veteran batter was recently dropped from the Indian team after a rough patch in the last two years in Test cricket, and he did not find any buyers in the mega auction for IPL 2022 as well. Pujara took the opportunity to take part in the County season for Sussex and has found great form so far in the tournament.

In the recently concluded game against Middlesex, the right-hander scored an unbeaten 170 off just 197 deliveries with 22 fours and three sixes in the second innings and laid the foundation for a challenging target. However, Middlesex produced a dramatic run chase with a run rate of over five and ended up winning the game despite Pujara’s monumental knock.

In four games this season, Pujara has already scored a double century and three centuries and is second on the list of top run-scorers this season, with 717 runs in seven innings at an average of 143.40. With such performances, Pujara is certainly knocking the doors of the Indian selectors and it won’t be a surprise if he makes it to the Test squad for the England tour in June.

‘Away from IPL, a simple ‘forget me not’ message’ – Mohammad Kaif on Cheteshwar Pujara’s form

Kaif tweeted about the recent form of Pujara, stating that the best way to knock on the India selectors’ doors is to hit centuries and double centuries like the 34-year-old has done recently. He added that Pujara is reminding everyone about his presence despite not being part of the cash-rich tournament.
