Tristan Stubbs recalls reaction after maiden call-up from MI
Tristan Stubbs is one of the highly talented South African domestic cricketers and he has been stacking up runs in the recent CSA challenge. The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has been added to the Mumbai Indians squad for the remaining IPL fixtures as a replacement for Tymal Mills who injured his ankle recently. Mumbai Indians, over the years, have been quite fantastic with their talent recruitment and Stubbs is likely to benefit from being with the squad.
Stubbs, who played for the Warriors in the CSA challenge, notched up 293 runs in seven games including three half-centuries. He was part of the recent South Africa-A side on the tour to Zimbabwe and has some breathtaking numbers already in his short T20 career. After arriving at the Mumbai Indians camp, Stubbs recalled how he was shocked while receiving a phone call from his father about the Mumbai Indians call-up while playing at the Golf court.
“Yesterday morning we were at the golf course actually, when my dad phoned me and I was like, ‘Wow, this is crazy! It’s actually happening,” Stubbs told in a video posted by MI. Mumbai Indians had already picked up the services of upcoming sensation Dewald Brevis ahead of the mega auction and he has impressed with some quickfire knocks apart from his stupendous six-hitting skills. However, both Stubbs and Brevis might find it tough to break into the playing XI for the remaining games.
Mumbai Indians come back strong in the last two games
Mumbai Indians are already knocked out of the race for the playoffs, however, they still have four games left in the league stages and they have managed to get their heads up in the last two games. Tim David has shown good signs in his finishing abilities in the last two games while the return of Daniel Sams has been the talking point for the Mumbai Indians so far. The Australian all-rounder defended nine off the final over to help his side to the second victory of the season against Gujarat Titans.
