Yuzvendra Chahal’s mindset has made him a world-class bowler: Lalchand Rajput
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are up against each other in Match 34 of IPL 2022. Royals are in the third position with four wins, while the Capitals are placed sixth with three wins in six league matches. Ahead of this fixture, the former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput discussed the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and shared his views on Capitals.
Rajput reckoned that the body language of Chahal has been different this season and he has looked confident. Rajput said that the leg-spinner is trying to show the world his potential in the shortest format and had put a question mark on the decision of selectors who kept him out of the T20 World Cup 2021 squad. He further added that Chahal has developed himself into a world-class bowler with this attitude and mindset on the field, and praised his performance in death overs. In three matches of IPL 2022, Chahal has scalped five wickets at an economy of 7 in the death overs.
“The most important for a bowler is his body language, which gets better when your confidence is high. The way he runs before going to bowl, tells how much confidence he has. The graph has certainly improved for Chahal, and he wants to show the world if I was bowling well, and why I was left out. This is the time, he wants to show with his consistent performances, that I am still the wrist spinner who can bowl in the powerplay as well as death overs. His mindset and attitude are making a good bowler into a world-class bowler,” said Lalchand Rajput on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ on CricTracker.
Delhi Capitals are dependent on top-order batters: Lalchand Rajput
Rajput also reckoned that DC are dependent on the contribution of the players like Prithvi Shaw and David Warner, who have helped them to get a flying start in the last few matches. He pointed out the RCB game, where the middle-order could not win the game for the team. Rajput concluded by saying that the team is missing the services of Shimron Hetmyer, who finished well in the last few editions for the franchise, and the likes of Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel have not yet matched his performance.
“They really depend on the top-order batters like David Warner and Prithvi Shaw. If one of them doesn’t score, the problems arises for the team. The finisher [Rovman] Powell has not yet done well in the initial matches and is inconsistent. Their middle order is struggling. Although they have good all-rounders in form of Shardul and Axar, they are missing the services of Hetmyer and the player like Dhoni to provide a late flourish. So their weak link in the middle order and the lack of quality finisher,” added Rajput.
