LSG vs RCB: KL Rahul fined for breaching Code of Conduct
Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has been found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday (April 19). The right-handed batter has hence been fined 20 per cent of his match fee. Rahul’s teammate Marcus Stoinis has also been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct during the same match.
Although breach of both players was not specified, Stoinis has probably been reprimanded for arguing with the umpire over a controversial wide call. Apparently, RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood bowled a delivery way outside the tramline. As the on-field umpire didn’t adjudge the ball wide, Stoinis was evidently exasperated. The Aussie all-rounder was dismissed in the very next ball and his frustration was evident. Meanwhile, both players have admitted the offence and accepted the charges.
KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis admitted to the Level 1 offence
“Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul has been fined 20 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Mr Rahul admitted to the Level 1 offence of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” IPL stated in a press release.
“Marcus Stoinis from Lucknow Super Giants has been reprimanded. Mr Stoinis admitted to the Level 1 offence of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the release read further.
Meanwhile, RCB won the contest by 18 runs as LSG failed to chase down 182 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. Skipper Faf du Plessis made his bat talk in the game and scored 96 off 64 deliveries. Thanks to his efforts, RCB managed to post 181/6 despite a top-order collapse. Pacer Josh Hazlewood was the stand-out performer with the ball as he took four wickets in the game.
