IPL 2022: PBKS vs MI Review – Punjab hand Mumbai their 5th straight defeat
Mumbai Indians suffered their fifth straight loss in IPL 2022 after a defeat at the hands of the Punjab Kings in Match 23. Mumbai had a daunting target of 199 to chase and they were cruising at one stage with youngsters Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis putting on a show with the bat. However, two run-outs saw the back of Pollard and Varma, and it meant that it was curtains for the Mumbai side again despite Suryakumar’s scare towards the end.
Earlier, Punjab Kings were put in to bat first and they were off a blazing start with both their openers taking on the bowling. Shikhar Dhawan continued the show after his partner Mayank Agarwal was dismissed after a half-century, although the overseas batters could not do much damage. In the end, an excellent finish from Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan saw Punjab post a massive score on board.

Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis deserved a half-century but was unfortunate to be dismissed on 49 off just 25 balls after some thunderous hitting. The right-hander hit four cracking sixes in a single over from Rahul Chahar and his 112 meter six was a treat to watch for the fans. The youngster is expected to do wonders in the upcoming fixtures for the Mumbai Indians.
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan had a fantastic outing with the bat at the top of the order as he scored a 52-ball 70 to set up a big total for the Punjab Kings. The left-hander hit five fours and three sixes in his well-constructed innings and laid the platform for a final over flourish. His form will be crucial to the Punjab Kings moving forward in the tournament.

Mumbai Indians will be next up against the Lucknow Super Giants on the 16th of April at the Brabourne Stadium while the Punjab Kings will head to Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai for their next encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 17th of April.
