Women’s WC 2022 – Best XI of the tournament
Australia continued their domination in the tournament as they clinched their seventh World Cup title. Meg Lanning led her side to another WC glory by defeating England by 71 runs in the final in Christchurch. There were many top performers in the gala event which lasted for a month in New Zealand. With both bat and ball, players contributed to their respective teams by scoring runs and picking up wickets.
Let’s take a look at the Best XI of the Women’s World Cup 2022:
1.Alyssa Healy
Healy ended the WC as the highest run-getter with 509 runs. She smashed two tons and two fifties at an average of 56.55. Her highest score of 170 runs came in the final against England.
2.Rachael Haynes
Rachael Haynes scored the second-most runs in the WC. Haynes amassed 497 runs at an average of 62.12. The left-handed batter slammed three fifties and one century with the highest score of 130.
3.Beth Mooney
Beth Mooney hammered 330 runs in nine innings. She had a stellar average of 110.00 and a strike rate of 100.91. Mooney struck two half-centuries with the best score of 66* in the competition.
4.Laura Wolvaardt
Laura Wolvaardt ended the competition as the fourth-highest run-getter. She mustered 433 runs with a 54.12 average. Wolvaardt registered five half-centuries in the WC with the best score of 90.
5.Meg Lanning
Meg Lanning was the fifth-highest run-scorer. Apart from leading her side to glory, she amassed 394 runs at an average of 56.28. She hammered two fifties and a century with the best of 135*.
6.Nat Sciver
Nat Sciver struck 436 runs with a 72.66 average. She struck fifty and two centuries with the highest score of 148* which came in the final. Sciver finished as runners-up as she scored the third-most runs in the tournament.
7.Marizanne Kapp
Marizanne Kapp scored 203 runs at an average of 40.60. Kapp also finished the WC joint-fourth with two others for picking up 12 wickets at an economy of 4.73 which also included a five-for.
8.Sophie Ecclestone
Sophie Ecclestone finished the WC as the highest wicket-taker. She took 21 wickets with an average of 15.61 and an economy rate of 3.83. The spinner bowled 12 maidens with the best figure of 6/36.
9.Shabnim Ismail
Shabnim Ismail took the second-most wickets. She ended the WC with 14 scalps at an average of 17.50. Ismail took the most wickets by a pacer in the competition with the best figures of 3/27.
10.Alana King
Alana King ended the WC joint fourth with two other bowlers. She took 12 scalps at an average of 24.50 and an economy rate of 4.52. The Aussie spinner took three wickets in the final.
11.Jess Jonassen
Jess Jonassen took the third most wickets in the WC. She took 13 wickets with an average of 18.84 and a 4.04 economy rate. Her best bowling performance of 3/57 came in the final.
