Know more about Vaibhav Arora – PBKS’ pace sensation
Vaibhav Arora was one of the unknown commodities coming into the IPL this year but he has already set the stage on fire with an outstanding spell against the Chennai Super Kings in the previous game. The right-arm seamer impressed on his debut in the cash-rich tournament with 2 for 21 in his spell and has made a statement already.
Mayank Agarwal was quite confident with Vaibhav Arora’s skills and he gave him the new ball straightaway ahead of Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh. The move worked really well as the 24-year-old picked up two destructive batters in the form of Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali. More than the wickets, the way Arora swung the ball both ways was a delight to watch and he is expected to get a longer run in the season.
Arora was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad last year but was benched throughout the season. After a bidding war between the KKR and PBKS in this mega auction and finally landed at PBKS for INR 2 crore. There is no doubt that Arora had the goods to deliver in the big tournament and his numbers for Himachal Pradesh in the last two seasons tell the story as well.
Arora first came through the ranks in 2019 when he made his first-class debut and since then he has played nine games, picking 30 wickets at an average of 20.8. In the shorter formats, Arora played 13 T20s, picking up 14 wickets at an average of 23.1 and has an economy rate of under seven.
He is an attacking option in the powerplay with his ability to nip the ball both ways. Arora has proven to be a great pick for PBKS already. His pace was up the mark as well hitting the early 140 Kmph at times and some more wickets to his tally might just take him to the highest level.
