IPL 2022: GT vs DC Preview – Gujarat, Delhi seek to continue winning momentum

The Gujarat Titans will be facing off against Delhi Capitals in Match 10 of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 2. Both teams would be oozing with confidence heading into this fixture, having won their respective opening games. While Delhi got the better of Mumbai Indians by four wickets, Gujarat registered a five-wicket win over the other new entrants Lucknow Super Giants.

The Delhi batters showcased a great performance while chasing a challenging total of 178 against the lethal Mumbai bowling attack as the opening duo of youngster Prithvi Shaw (38) and Tim Seifert (21) laid a good foundation with a 30-run stand. DC then lost Mandeep Singh and skipper Rishabh Pant cheaply but an unbeaten 48 runs from 38 deliveries by Lalit Yadav and 38 not out from 17 balls by Axar Patel helped them in getting past the finish line. The duo also went on to register an unbeaten 75-run stand for the seventh wicket. As far as the bowling is concerned, Kuldeep Yadav returned with figures of 3/18 from his four overs at an economy rate of 4.5. Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed chipped in with 2/27.

GT were more than outstanding against LSG where Mohammed Shami rattled the top-order with three big wickets – skipper KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock and Manish Pandey and finished with figures of 3/25 from his four overs at an economy rate of 6.3. His pace bowling partner Varun Aaron also chipped in with 2/45. The batters were really impressive, especially captain Hardik Pandya and the middle-order duo of Matthew Wade and David Miller chipping in with important scores of 30 each before power-hitter Rahul Tewatia added the finishing touches with an unbeaten 24-ball 40.

Here’s the Predicted Playing XI of Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals

Gujarat Titans

As far as the overseas recruits of both sides are concerned, it remains to be seen how soon will pacers Mustafizur Rahman and Lungi Ngidi be available for selection. Meanwhile, star batter David Warner will only participate after April 5 as per Cricket Australia (CA)’s central contract rules. Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh would also be looking forward to donning the DC jersey in some time after being ruled out of Pakistan white-ball series due to a hip injury.

Delhi Capitals

DC, on the other hand, are waiting for West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph to land in the country. He participated in the recently-concluded three-match Test series at home against England.
