Glenn Maxwell ties the knot with long-time girlfriend Vini Raman
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has tied knots with his long-time Indian-origin girlfriend Vini Raman on March 18. As per earlier reports, the wedding was set to take place on March 27. Maxwell’s wife Vini also confirmed the same by sharing the image of her and her better half after getting hitched. In fact, the rumors of their wedding were doing rounds for the past few days after their wedding card in Tamil had leaked.
The two-time World Cup winner has also given Australia’s ongoing bilateral series against Pakistan a miss because of this occasion and it has also been reported that he could also miss the initial few games of the IPL 2022 as well. The Australian power-hitter was one of the mandatory retentions of the Royal Challengers Bangalore on November 30, 2021, along with batting megastar Virat Kohli and India’s pace sensation Mohammed Siraj.
Glenn Maxwell and Vini Raman have known each other for more than four years and had got engaged in February 2020. Vini is an Australia-based pharmacist and she resides in Melbourne. In fact, the duo had also planned their wedding on multiple occasions but, had to postpone the occasion due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
Coming back to IPL 2022, it was reported that the 33-year-old could be the next RCB captain after Virat Kohli had relinquished the position post IPL 2021 and with AB de Villiers retiring from all forms of the game. However, veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis will be leading the franchise this year.
Maxwell, who was roped in by the three-time finalists, had a dream season last year as he amassed 513 runs from 15 matches and played an instrumental role in helping the franchise make a second straight playoff appearance before going down to the eventual runners-up KKR in the Eliminator.
The 2021 T20 World Cup winner would be expected to come out firing all cylinders this time as well and also contribute with his right-arm off-breaks. Meanwhile, RCB will begin their IPL 2022 campaign against Punjab Kings at the DY Patil Stadium on March 27.
