The three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, which was held in Bangladesh from February 23 to 28, 2022, has been done and dusted and Bangla Tigers clinched the series 2-1. After winning the first two ODIs, the hosts were looking to whitewash the Afghans but the visitors denied them the clean sweep. Few players performed really well in the series between the two Asian sides.

1.Liton Das (223 runs)
Liton Das struck a terrific century in the second ODI as he smashed 136 runs off 126 deliveries to help Bangladesh in posting 306/4 in 50 overs eventually winning the game and the series for his side. He finished as the highest run-scorer of the series with 223 runs and an average of 74.33. Das also slammed 86 runs in the final ODI match.
2.Najibullah Zadran (122 runs)
The hard-hitting left-hander Najibullah Zadran ended the series as the third-highest run-getter. Zadran scored 122 runs with an average of 61.00 and the highest score of 67. The 29-years old middle-order batter scored two half-centuries in the first two matches but both of his efforts went in vain as the Bangla Tigers lost both encounters.
3.Afif Hossain (111 runs)
The young Bangladeshi all-rounder Afif Hossain played brilliant innings of 93* to snatch a great victory for his side in the first ODI. Bangladesh was 45/6 chasing 216 but Hossain along with Mehidy Hasan scripted a breathtaking win for the hosts. The 22-years old Afif struck 11 fours and a six in his unbeaten knock to claim the victory in the 49th over. He finished the series with 111 runs with a staggering average of 111.00. He also took a solitary wicket in the series.
4.Fazalhaq Farooqi (6 wickets)
21-years old Afghanistan quick Fazalhaq Farooqi broke the back of Bangladesh’s batting line-up in the first ODI. The hosts were chasing 216 as Farooqi took wickets of four of the top five Bangladeshi batters to rock their chase. The left-arm fast-medium pacer took a wicket each in the next two ODIs and ended up the series as the highest wicket-taker with six scalps with an average of 24.33 and an economy rate of 5.24.
5.Rashid Khan (5 wickets) and Shakib Al Hasan (5 wickets, 60 runs)
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan finished the series as joint-second highest wicket-takers with five wickets. Shakib also scored 60 runs in the three matches. Rashid’s spell of 3/37 in ten overs in the final ODI helped his team in avoiding a whitewash as the hosts were all out for just 192 runs. Rashid and Shakib bowled with an excellent economy of 4.03 and 4.65, respectively, in the series.
