Teams with the most wins against an opposition in T20Is
Team India is enjoying a dream run in the T20I format under the stewardship of new full-time skipper Rohit Sharma. The Men in Blue achieved a flurry of records since the start of the West Indies series in mid-February 2022. India registered their 100th T20I win when they defeated West Indies by eight runs in the second T20I at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They became only the second team after Pakistan to achieve the feat of 100 T20I wins. Also, after beating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the third and final T20I in Dharamshala, they have now won the most matches against opposition in T20Is, which is 17.
India has played 25 T20 internationals against the Lankan Lions and won 17 matches. Seven times they faced defeat and one match had no result. Rohit’s team India surpassed Pakistan’s record of 16 T20I victories against Zimbabwe. The Men in Green have faced the African country in 17 matches, winning 16 and losing just once. Pakistan has also registered 15 wins out of 25 matches against New Zealand and 15 victories out of 21 clashes against the West Indies.
Most wins against opposition in T20Is:

India | Sri Lanka | 25 | 17 |
Pakistan | Zimbabwe | 17 | 16 |
Pakistan | New Zealand | 25 | 15 |

Notably, India has won 11 T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka out of 14 played in India. They lost only twice against Sri Lanka at home and one match had no result. India last lost to its neighbours Sri Lanka six years back in February 2016 at home. Since then, they have won 10 consecutive T20I matches (completed) in India. Talking about the terrific form of India in the shortest international format, the team has now won 12 consecutive matches on the bounce. They have now equalled Afghanistan and Romania’s record of 12 straight wins in the format.
Team India has won second-most T20Is at home
With a victory over the Lankan Lions in the third match, India has now won 40 T20I games at home, which is the second-most by any team. India has played 61 matches in India, winning 40, losing 20 and one of the matches ended with no result. New Zealand tops the list with 41 victories on home soil. The Kiwis have contested in 73 clashes at home, winning 41 (including the super over), losing 30 and two games had no result. South Africa is in third with 38 wins out of 70 matches played in the rainbow nation. West Indies occupies the fourth spot with 32 victories out of 65 games and Australia is on fifth for winning 32 matches out of 51 matches down under.
