IND vs SL: Ishan Kishan taken to hospital after being hit on head in second T20I

Ishan Kishan suffered a blow to his head in the second T20I against Sri Lanka on February 26 and was taken to hospital immediately in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Lahiru Kumara was going through a brilliant spell in the middle during the start of India’s batting and he was bowling some serious pace as well.

Kumara bowled a half-tracker but it took off from the pitch viciously and the pace of the bowler was difficult to control for Kishan, who tried playing a pull shot. Kishan missed his shot and the ball went on to hit his inner grill of the helmet. Fortunately, the batter was up and running straight away after a glance and the brave lad from Jharkhand decided to continue his batting. However, he couldn’t last long as he was caught playing a flick shot straight into the hands of the mid-on fielder for a 15-ball 16 off the bowling of Kumara.

Ishan Kishan has been under observation

A doctor, who is connected with the Indian team, reported that Kishan has been brought to his hospital and a CT scan was also conducted to make sure that Kishan is alright. He added that Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal has suffered a thumb injury while fielding and has been brought into his hospital as well.

“I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player, who has sustained a head injury, has been brought in the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been under observation,” Dr. Shubham was quoted as saying by TOI.

“A Sri Lankan player has also been admitted in the hospital, after receiving a thumb injury in the second T20I. We are monitoring everything right now,” he added.

India, meanwhile, on the back of some stunning batting performances from Shreyas Iyer (74), Sanju Samson (39), and Ravindra Jadeja (45) chased down the target of 184 set by the visitors and secured the series 2-0 with one game to go.
