IPL 2022: Three captaincy options for RCB
The mega auction for IPL 2022 has concluded a few days ago and the Royal Challengers Bangalore have made some valuable additions to their squad. Having retained the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj, the RCB franchise needed a skipper coming into the mega auction after Kohli stepped down from the role last year. Here are three captaincy options for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022.
Glenn Maxwell:
Glenn Maxwell was retained by the franchise ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 11 Crore and the Australian had a terrific IPL last year. In fact, for the last few years, Maxwell has found it really hard to survive in the Indian pitches and was wasted a lot playing the finisher role. However, he always had the potential of playing the match-winning innings and the 33-year-old amassed 513 runs in 15 games at an average of 42.75. He has captained in BBL and the Punjab franchise in the past.
Dinesh Karthik:
Dinesh Karthik was bagged up for a price of INR 5.5 Crore by the RCB side and his experience can be very handy for the franchise. Karthik has been playing the finisher role for his previous franchise KKR perfectly and he is one of the sharpest minds going around in terms of captaincy. The 36-year-old has captained his state side Tamil Nadu to victories in the domestic tournaments and brings a lot to the table with his presence in leadership.
Faf Du Plessis:
Faf Du Plessis was noted to be a steal for the RCB franchise considering he went for just INR 7 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction and the veteran batter can bring a lot of solidity at the top of the order. His captaincy tactics have been underrated over the years, but he still has a lot of cricket left in him and the 37-year-old can be a great option to hand over the responsibility.
