IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals – SWOT Analysis
Delhi Capitals had an excellent auction in terms of squad strength and Indian contingent and they have picked a lot of quality proposition as well. They went on to pick David Warner, Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Marsh, Kuldeep Yadav as the main contingent to add to the retentions of Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje. Here is the SWOT analysis of Delhi Capitals.
Strengths
Delhi Capitals’ strength will definitely be their strong top-order that comprises Warner and Shaw IN the opening slot followed by Marsh and Pant at No. 3 and 4 respectively. It is as good as it can get and can be destructive right from the outset. They have a lot of options in the bowling attack with Thakur, Axar and Nortje being certainties and the likes of Mustafizur and Sakariya can be added to the mix as well.
Weaknesses
The middle-order will be a weakness for the Delhi Capitals as they do not have much experience and the overseas contingent of Rovman Powell might have to do the bulk of the scoring. The likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Mandeep Singh have all been in and around for a long time now in the cash-rich tournament and they might have to step up for the side in the middle order. U-19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull is also an option.
Opportunities
Kuldeep Yadav missed out on a lot of games in the last two IPL seasons and wasn’t the top choice for the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he might get an extended run with the Delhi Capitals and this will be an excellent opportunity for him to showcase the talent and potential in him. Youngster Yash Dhull is also expected to be presented with chances in the middle order.
Threats
Mitchell Marsh’s role as an all-rounder will be very key in the side as they do not have many backups for him and Anrich Nortje has had some injury concerns of late. Also, the Indian pace department looks very inexperienced with Chetan Sakariya and Khaleel Ahmed combinedly having played only 38 IPL games so far.
