The Sachin Tendulkar Foundation has joined hands with the Parivaar Foundation. They will be constructing a residential school for 2300 children. Taking up the responsibilities of these wards, the foundation will be guiding them towards their aim. It will help them in realising their dreams.

Speaking about the school, Tendulkar shared his feelings. “The development of that school was something which touched my heart. When I looked at it, I said, okay, I’m going to name this after my parents. My father was a professor, and if he was alive today, he would have been a proud man. When I shared this news with my mother in the night, she just looked at me. And the smile that she gave me is priceless. There is no greater satisfaction than that. When you know that you’ve made your parents proud, it makes your life complete. That’s what you live for,” Tendulkar said.

The foundation also employs the concept of Kutir. It can house around 100-120 children and the foundation takes care of their morning breakfast and helps them spend their day out of the school in a useful manner.

When asked what made Tendulkar get involved in these efforts, he replied, “We (Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar) decided that we are going to work with the children of India because they are the future. We are the youngest average population and that is going to stay for a while so our population is our strength and young population. If you channel their energies then it’s going to produce good results and that is what we are looking to do.”

Speaking about his long term goals with the foundation, Tendulkar reiterated his vision of turning India from being a sports-loving nation to a sports-playing one. The legend knows that it will take a lot of time but he asserted that he is fully committed to achieving it.

“It’s going to take longer than 24 years of my career. It’s going to be much, much lengthier and I would say it’s a committed process. Everything that I could do on the field could be measured because there were numbers in front of us here. Of course, there will be numbers but something that cannot be measured is the satisfaction that you get,” Tendulkar added.
