IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Most expensive Indian uncapped players
The two days of frenetic action finally ended as the mega auction of IPL 2022 lived up to its expectation with all the hype and excitement. A total of 204 players were purchased by ten teams including the two new franchises and INR 551,70,00,000 was splurged on the auction table. A few Indian players haven’t even made a debut in international cricket but went for a big amount.

3. Rahul Tripathi (8.5 crores)
The right-handed batter who helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last season in reaching the finals was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 8.5 crores. Having previously played for defunct Rising Pune Super Giants (RPS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and KKR, this will be the fourth franchise Tripathi will make his debut for. Rahul plays his domestic cricket for Maharashtra as the uncapped batter scored 397 runs in last year’s IPL to finish as KKR’s second-highest run-getter. Starting with a base price of INR 40 lakhs, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and even KKR also looked interested in him, but SRH secured the deal. In 60 IPL innings, Tripathi has amassed 1385 runs with a strike rate of 136.32 and seven fifties. The batter saw his price rise by 21.25 times with a hike of 2125%.
2. Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia (9 crores)
Power-hitter Shahrukh Khan returned to Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rahul Tewatia got a new home in Gujarat Titans as the pair were snapped up for INR 9 crores. Both had a base price of INR 40 lakhs but their price shoot up 22.5 times with a hike of 2250%. Shahrukh famously won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Tamil Nadu by hitting a last-ball six against Karnataka in 2021. He played for PBKS last season and impressed coach Anil Kumble with his big-hitting. All-rounder Tewatia too has been performing well for RR for the past two seasons as the new team Gujarat Lions splashed a big amount for him. Shahrukh scored 153 runs in 11 innings last season while Rahul has notched up 410 runs in 22 innings of the last two seasons.
- Avesh Khan (10 crores)
New team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired Avesh Khan’s services for a whopping INR 10 crores making the most expensive uncapped Indian in the mega auction 2022. With 24 wickets, Khan was the second-highest wicket-taker in the last IPL season. His great performance also saw him making it to the recent squads of the Indian cricket team. CSK and LSG were involved in an intense bidding war for the right-arm pacer but LSC finally got him snapped up. Khan also became the most expensive uncapped Indian in the history of IPL auction surpassing K Gowtham who was paid INR 9.25 crores by CSK. He is even a part of the squad in the ongoing West Indies series.
